Ghost Town in Previews
The issue of GHOST TOWN I drew is currently in Previews right now! Please bug your local comic shop and let them know you want to read this book. You can actually check out a sample PDF of this book and a few others that Action Lab's Danger Zone line is soliticting HERE.
I had a blast working on it and interstingly enough, it brings my comics career full circle in some ways.
It started in a bar in San Diego. Mmmm, actually, that's not exactly right. Really for me, it started when I met Dave Dwonch behind the counter of my local comic shop when I was maybe 15 or so (and for you at home doing the math, that was not recently).
Dave was that cool kid who you could count on to recommend the good new "indie" books coming out weekly. I distinctly remember him turning me on to both WASTELAND and 100 BULLETS, both of which ended up being pretty impactful to this developing artist. Years later, when Dave no longer worked at the shop and I was a graduating art student, we teamed up and made the rounds pitching our own book together.
To be frank, I didn't know shit about the comics industry. I mean, I could tell you who wrote/drew most books, but not the nuts and bolts of how things got made, who gave jobs, etc. Dave was way more knowledgeable then me, and in that time period working with him I learned how the sausage was made in comics.
Our book didn't find a publisher, so we dug in and found our own ways into the comic industry. Dave went on to write and draw (and letter, and color...) many great projects and while we've always remained friends, we've never had a chance to work together again.
Until now.
Fast forward to SDCC a couple years back. A lively conversation breaks out amongst a big group of us sitting around having a drink. Dave and Rob Ruddell start kicking around this CRAZY sci-fi idea about sending a nuke back in time, and terrorism, and all kinds of great edgy stuff. I specifically recall Dave sort of sifting through it and summing the whole thing up with a big grin, looking over at me, and telling me "...Y' know, that actually could work."
Well, it did :) GHOST TOWN is a fantastic idea and I was glad to hear that it was going to be developed into a series. And when Dave asked if I wanted to draw an issue with him, a set-up story that sets up the whole premise and the story in motion, I was thrilled. And the fact that the continuing series is written/drawn/colored by Ryan K Lindsay, Daniel Logan, and Brian Dyck is a nice bonus too.
So talk to your local shops and check this book out when it hits shelves in a couple months. I'll be drawing covers for the rest of the series (with the super talented Jordie Belaire coloring them) and looking forward to seeing what the new creative team has in store for what's underneath it every month.

Emerald City Comic Con starts this Friday!
Wasn't this show months away? Well the wait is over and I am pumped about getting to attend ECCC for the first time this year.
You can find me in Artist Alley Table T-07, where I'll be doing commissions and selling both comics and original art. I will also be popping in to visit with my pals at Oni Press (902) and Action Lab comics (906) so come by and get a sneak peak at some upcoming books.
I have a signing over at the Oni Press booth on Sunday at noon so please drop in and say hello. Look forward to meeting lots of new folks and talking comics with y'all!

Wasteland- Work In Progress
In case I haven't mentioned it here, I've started work on another arc of WASTELAND! It's been really great coming back to this book and the part of the story that I'm getting to tell is pretty... HUGE. If you are a longtime fan of this book, I can tell with certainty that you will not be disappointed by what's coming next.
I've been putting up snapshots of my work in progress on twitter over the last month or so and wanted to throw them up here as well. I'll be updating every now and again when I get a bunch together.

ECCC Pre-orders for Commissions
We are only about one short month away from Emerald City ComicCon and I for one am pumped!
I'll be drawing all weekend at the show and if you want to preorder a commission, now's the time. I'm going to try and get a few done ahead of time and there's always a benefit to giving your local comic book artist more time to play with your drawing so get in where you fit in!
Full figure drawing (Single Figure) : $50
Head and shoulders: $30
All commissions will be black and white, although I might add washes based on the drawing. Each additional character is $10.
You can email me HERE or check out my commissions page on THE INTERIOR PAGES and click the envelope to send Jason an email and make arrangements.
Here are a few samples to check out:

Masks and Mobsters #6 out today!
(Cover by Mike Henderson)
Being the old fashioned neandrathal that I am, I only read a few comics digitally with any regularity and they are all published by Monkeybrain Comics. They've been putting out a bunch of really great creator owned titles and ever since Edison Rex came out, I've been a fan of a bunch of their books, especially Masks and Mobsters by Joshua Williamson and Mike Henderson. So when Josh hit me up about drawing an issue, I was pretty stoked to say the least! I had a lot of fun with this book and it gave me a chance to play a bit with washes and some new materials.
Our issue was released today on Comixology so go HERE and download a copy! It's only a buck, and it's a great series so don't be afraid to poke around and have a look at the rest of the series. There is a preview making the rounds so I'll include it below to give you a little taste:

Ghost Town is coming...
(colors by the fantastic Jordie Bellaire)
This teaser I drew popped up a week or two ago but with ACTION LAB's recent announcent of their new mature readers line DANGER ZONE, it seemed like a good time to post this up for folks to check out.
This is a precursor to a project that has been a long time in the making and one I'm excited to be a part of. There will be lots more details as the book gets solicited in a month or two but I can say that I've gotten to work closely with one of my oldest comic pals Dave Dwonch, and we had a lot of fun collaborating again after many years. We have a one-shot coming soon and you can expect lots of surprises from the ensuing series by Ryan K Lindsay, Daniel Logan and Brian Dyck.

The Ballad of Sang
(Colors by Shari Chankhamma)
A few months back, my friend Ed Brisson and I got to talking about an idea he had for a comic about a vengeful primordial dwarf with a penchant for violence and an impossible mission. Nuff said, right?!? So when he asked me if I'd be down to do a pin-up for the project, I jumped at the chance to draw some Sang for myself.
You can check out a more thorough breakdown of Ed's idea on his site. There are also some other pin-ups from talented guys like Johnnie Christmas and Eric Zawadzki that really came out great. And you can also catch a link to Ed's fantastic crime comic Murder Book, or his new series Comeback from that site, both of which I really enjoyed and are definitely worth checking out.
Also, I'll put up my original line work for the pin-up below- it'll give you a good idea of just how good Shari's colors are...
