Blair Butler was kind enough to do a quick review of Resurrection #5 (amongst others) on her show Fresh Ink!

Look Ma, I'm on TV!
The amazing Mr. Guggenheim and myself were interviewed by Electric Playground about Resurrection when we were at the Oni booth in San Diego last year. Try not to be bowled over by my masterful way with words...

Resurrection #5 Page Process
Here are a couple of pages, broken down step by step.
This is my thumbnail from issue #5, page 11. They are very loose, most of my effort going into layout, space relationship, and spotting the big black shapes.

Using the thumbnail comp for reference, I layout the drawing loosely in pencil onto the bristol board, trying not to commit to anything too much at this point.

I continue refining the pencils although I still stay pretty loose, even on the relatively finished pencils- if I were not inking myself, I would need to be more specific but I like to leave a little bit of room for spontaneity and last minute changes, even if they are as simple as line weight.

Finally, I come over the top with a brush and ink. I really only use pens for catching straight lines, but I'm trying to find ways in integrate them more for texture. Otherwise, I love the feel of a brush and prefer it to anything else.

More Covers- Roughs and Finishes (Cont'd)
More Covers- Roughs and Finishes
Catching Up with Some New Inked Covers
In the interest of doing a little catch up, here are some up coming covers in ink...

Here is the cover for issue #7, due out in a January, I think. I've seen this cover colored, and Dan Jackson really knocked it out of the park- he brought a lot of atmosphere to it and it looks 10 times better all done up.
