Resurrection #9 Cover- Roughs and Finishes

Man it's pouring out- it's like END OF DAYS here! Thunder, lightning, and hail are not exactly common in the Bay Area, but it's kinda cool, nice change.

Here are some of the comps for the cover of issue #9. I really wanted to use the patterning of the robes to create cool shapes and rhythm. Here were my two favorites for this round-






I thought both would make pretty good covers but it was the second one that won over Marc and James. The finished version stayed pretty faithful to the comp- I added a suggestion of steps and the cross to help give a little context and push the action a bit. It was one of my favorites when it was all inked up and finished.

I particularly liked these ones but I'm not sure why exactly- something about the balance between stylizing but still being realistic enough-



and these were characters that were new to the book (except for Lassie of course). It was fun to draw a superhero type character, it's been a while since breaking out the spandex.

I drew a little one-shot comic for the television show PSYCH last summer that was given out at ComicCon after their interview panel. Written by the witty Anupam Nigam, (who also writes for the show), and produced by the good folks at Oni Press, it was a fun little project and I thought it would be cool to check out some of the character sketches and warm up material. There are also some of the inked pages in the "Comic Gallery", on the right hand side of the screen.
