Three Heads

I've had my nose to the grindstone recently, working on lots of pages for Wasteland. In a couple weeks I'll start putting up some art from the series to prime folks for the exciting release of issue #33 in January. In the meantime, here are a few head drawing from warm up drawings in the last month or so.

I did this quick drawing from a photo of Larry David. A friend hooked me up with the complete series of Curb Your Enthusiasm and I've finally worked my way through it. What a funny show!

This one was done getting ready for a panel that really only required part of a head but I didn't feel like I could get it right unless I drew the whole thing and manually cropped it. Kinda liked the drawing though.

And lastly, a warm up head drawing to get in the zone one morning. I've been playing more and more with texture and line width, just trying to loosen up.

Thanksgiving is almost upon us- hope everybody has a good, relaxing holiday! Salud!

  1. Its really exciting to see your work on wasteland Justin, now its coming through. Just finished reading volume 6 of wasteland. I'm sure remington did his best, but I'm glad wasteland has worked out with a great artist to follow Chris. Re-reading the whole series so far, this is one of THE premier independent books right now, so congrats again.

On a side note, is the plan still to return to resurrection at some point? I have the insurgent volume 1 and truth be told, I've been holding out on 2 since things have gone dark, and I'm aware volume 2 doesn't wrap the story up.

  2. Thanks for the kind words Jamie :)

Yeah, I'm super excited for the release of the first issue of our arc next month. I couldn't agree more about it being a FANTASTIC book and I'm particularly pumped to be telling the part of the story that returns to Michael and crew. I'm going to start putting up some of my preliminary rough work for Wasteland later this week so stay tuned to this site or check out my twitter (@jkgreenwood_art) for updates.

As for Resurrection, we do intend to come back to it and continue telling that story but it won't be for a bit longer. Although Vol.2 doesn't conclude the series, it does do a great job of shedding some light on the larger mystery and introduces some awesome new characters. I would highly recommend it (but it's pretty hard for me to be impartial too ;)

Marc and I are working on a new project called Stringers during the hiatus and you can check out more about it here:

  3. For sure, I actually forgot how much we do know of Michael and Abi's past re-reading the series, but there's still so much more, I'm chomping at the bit haha. I haunt your twitter too despite not having one of my own, so I'll check out the art.

I was actually telling my girlfriend last night about stringers, I'd never heard of the profession til the book was announced, but its pretty gnarly eh? Anyway, 3 exciting books and just the same amount of time to draw right? haha. I'm excited though, and I think I'll grab volume 2 of Resurrection to hold me over!
